Welcome back. I mentioned I was going to keep an update on growing tomatoes in containers and I’m happy to report, so far so good. It’s been 3 weeks (we had lots of snow around the 24th of May - so I waited a little longer to plant) since I’d planted both tomatoes in 1) soil and 2) growing tomatoes in containers.
The verdict to date:
1) the tomatoes growing in containers are the exact…

I love the composter. Turning so-called garbage into gold makes it all sound like magic. If you’re not that great with tools to make one, short on yard space or have limited time, I’ve found a great spot that sells the composter at a great price. They also have a tremendous selection of organic gardening from lawn and soil care to dealing with pesky pests and mold issues the natural way.
Have a peek at Gardens Alive - just click on the composter picture.
They’ve got a neat helpful drop down question and answer box. If you make use of it, it will help you determine what you need.
If you’re still not convinced on the composter, you can review some interesting facts in my composting section. For example, did you know…

I like the ring to that EasyJet EcoJet. EasyJet has just announced it’s going “green”.
Air travel is one of the big greenhouse gas emitters and one sector that has had many in conundrums.
Not for EasyJet. It looks as though EasyJet ecoJet has some very positive solutions.
Jets produce “contrails” which those “cool” white streams you see after a planes passing. They are noted to add to global warming for a variety of reasons.
This new EasyJet ecoJet is to cut carbon emission by…

Here’s the good news. For the past 7 months or so I’ve been writing so much about the bad news of global warming and climate change, I’m changing my focus so-to-speak. My attention will be not so much on the bad news, but rather, the good news.
How we all can help to make a difference in our own ways differs greatly in some respects but not in others. For example, you won’t see too many farmers worried about the most economical vehicle to get them to and from work, rather their focus may be when can I get that wind turbine installed. Or for a broad scope, we all can try to use a little less energy today and turn off a room’s light we are not in.
Sure, I’ll post on an irregular basis about important headline news when the bigger pictures finally start to change, when we start to see and feel good news results. I’ve become so engulfed in the doldrums of our interactions with nature, that I just don’t believe there needs to be another “complainer”. I realize without a doubt in my mind that climate change and global warming do exist. I believe in numbers/facts and I’ve been overwhelmed by them.
I don’t have those “behind the scene” facts like those of Al Gore, but…

Bonsai trees are very intriguing to me. I’m amazed at how such a tiny tree can be so old and cute =)
Since I’m into combating global warming, one of the best ways is to plant anything green.
With my love of bonsai trees I thought, hey, why not share the word. Sure, bonsai trees are tiny in comparison to their earth planted outdoor counterparts, but every little bit helps.
Here are some quick tips…

Solar stepping stones are a really neat way to lighten our our impact on earth in more ways than one.
Using solar stepping stones allows us to be guided along our paths, walkways or create illumination in your garden beds too. They’re also great when used to surround your patio.
Since solar powered stepping stones are solar powered we get an additional bonus since they remove the cost from our energy bills. Their LED’s (their “light bulb”) continue to glow on for years and years. They actually last the lifetime of the product.
Solar stepping stones are a cinch to install and you can change your landscaping decor at will. Just pick them up …
