I’m a firm believer the electric car will eventually prevail. Now CNN reported on Monday that the Dow Jones doesn’t believe that small, fuel-efficient compacts will ever dominate the American market as they do in Europe and Asia. Rather, the US will ramp up towards flexible-fuel and plug-in hybrid electrics.

I can agree that because of the lifestyle of our Eastern neighbors demanding small cars thats one thing, but it’s because of the type of fuel or energy source that we have our problems? I disagree.

If car companies started advertising that the electric car is better, can be big or small, fast or slow, sexier, more conservative and quiet etc. and changes the beliefs (yet again) of consumers, guess what consumers will buy? The Electric Car. Sure, citizens are becoming far more aware of pollution consequences and are therefore starting to speak up and legally sway the courts that car companies must develop more efficient cars, but these car companies are dragging their feet every step of the way.

I can see how CNNs report is supported by the actions of large oil companies investing in renewable resources, but…

large car companies are not doing enough fast enough. I’m surprised they are not willing to quicken the pace since they have families too. For me, their changes aren’t sufficient enough either. Flexfuel still uses petro as does the plug-in hybrid. Yes, it’s a step in the right direction, but knowing that the electric car did exist and was exceptionally popular, simply bring the electric car back. Roll them out on a red carpet. No more wasting hundreds of millions of dollars on research and stalling for time, it was already done - one full year and then some.

The more I can create updates on the electric car, the more chances I can help to educate it’s benefits to others. Even if just one person weighed the facts and was deterred from the oil dependent, dirty, polluting, stinking vehicles, that’s good enough for me.
