WHAT IS AN ECOSYSTEM

What is an ecosystem? An ecosystem can be defined as a self-sustaining community or a geographical area that includes all of its living components.
Whereby people, animals, plants and microorganisms will reproduce, feed, interact, live and die, all in the same environment. It is to include soil, air and water – all the living physical surroundings. What is an ecosystem also includes the natural cycles that sustain this community such as drought, wind, fire and grazing to name a few. So really, the answer to what is an ecosystem can be quite a complex in-depth look at the delicate balance of nature.

This delicate balance of nature is sadly being disrupted by…

human population growth and pollutants. The question of what is an ecosystem may have you reading for hours on end since there just isn’t one type of ecosystem, hence disruptions everywhere.

It is in our best judgment to learn to live within these ecosystems or we may not be able to ask: what is an ecosystem for much longer. For a real eye-opener on how imbalanced our ecosystem is becoming, check out the film (DVD) “An Inconvenient Truth” by Al Gore. I think you will agree we all need to make some changes – as of yesterday. Will you?

Peace.
