What Causes Hurricanes

What causes hurricanes can be a long explanation, but in short, it is a combination of it’s fuel (vapour from the oceans surface), heat combined with low pressure and wind.

What causes hurricanes to form…

is the wind that spirals inward to the center of the low pressure area. These winds encourage more vaporization from the ocean waters resulting in showers and thunderstorms. Energy is released into “rainbands or feederbands” and into the eyewall that circumferences the storm. Know as the “eye of the storm”, this is where the winds are the strongest.

Because of global warming, our oceans are warming which encourage more turbulent weather patterns such as hurricanes. For those that live close to the oceans water edge, have you experienced more rain and thunderstorms in the last few years or have you been a victim of a hurricane itself? I’d be honored to hear of your experiences and your input on what causes hurricanes.

Peace.
