With all the talk (and data) around global warming and the effects it is causing on the polar regions, talk is being debated on whether or not to list polar bears as “threatened” by the US Bush administration.

If the decision comes to pass, the polar bear threatened listing won’t come into effect until January 2008. This too might spur on more efforts to combat further…

I can’t see how I would be personally affected by the decision other than cleaner air, but the locals are concerned about their industry of polar bear hunting etc.

Hopefully, with lesser greenhouse gases that cause global warming, our polar regions will replenish themselves. With this in mind, maybe the threatened polar bears will too.
